The show is an adaption of the Tamil serial Arasiyatama. Plot The show is a love story which revolves around two characters Abir Chatterjee (Ekta Konar) and Saroj Kar (Kanchan Chatterjee) Abir is a simple girl who was forced to marry Jagdeep, whom she was very much in love with, but she was forced to marry him by her mother in-law as Jagdeep had a political affiliation. Saroj is a country boy and a die-hard romantic who never believes in 'ill-matched' love. He becomes Abir's first love and it is here where the show plays out as the common man (Saroj) clashes with the corrupt political system. As the show progresses, Saroj has to face the consequences of his actions. He is sentenced to a lengthy prison sentence for his crime of hindering the investigation of the murder of his fiancee's brother. Saroj's beloved brother-in-law Jagdeep, is the son of the corrupt official to whom Saroj paid Rs. 15,000 to get his brother-in-law the job. Saroj later realizes Jagdeep's true identity as the son of the person who hired him and that it was a ploy to kill his fiancee's brother in order to steal his land. Jagdeep is forced to marry Abir to save his own life, so that he would not be killed by the criminal gang. Eventually, Saroj, after having gone through a lot, gets a new found love in Abir.
